Data sources (LSEG Workspace, FAME/Orbis VL, Fitch, etc) for FYP/Dissertation In-Person
This is a session for Level 6 (third year) students doing Final Year Projects or Dissertations in Brunel Business School department (EFA, BAM and SEM) modules: EC3000. AF3607, MG3117, MG3119 and MG3B40.
This session will be in person, in the Financial Resources Suite (Bann230a) on the 2nd floor of the Library.
The content of the session will include:
- An overview of the subscription sources at Brunel that can be used for collecting secondary data:
- A demonstration of LSEG Workspace and the Excel Add-in, used for accessing Datastream
- Practical use of Moody's databases FAME (for UK and Irish companies) and Orbis Very Large (for international public and very large private companies)
- A brief demo of Fitch Ratings Pro for banking data
- Discussion of other resources where data is available, both via subscription (such as Passport and the UK Data Service) and freely online
- Details on how to access all these databases
- This session will not focus on Bloomberg, which is being covered in separate workshops.

Her specialisms include literature searching (including systematic review), secondary data collection (including Bloomberg), market research and referencing.
Alice has research interests in the use of systematic reveiws within social sciences and social media activity at conferences. She is currently working as information specialist on two systematic review research projects.
