Finding copyright-free images In-Person

This session will introduce some practical tools for finding images on the open web, which are free from copyright restrictions or licensed for non-commercial use. As well as using some examples of photo-sharing platforms, non-profit sites and public image archives, we will look at the Creative Commons licences and how they apply to web-based images. This session is useful for any student, researcher or university staff member who uses images in their academic or professional work.

Learning outcomes:

  1. Discover a range of image search tools and sharing platforms, while gaining awareness of how to use them for different purposes
  2. Be able to make use of advances filters and searching techniques
  3. Understand the different licences that cover online images and how they apply to your work
